‘Stolen phone’ sparks bloody clashes in Plateau varsity

Bloody clashes, Tuesday broke out between rival student groups in Plateau State University, Bokkos, leading to fatal injuries.

The clashes reportedly started at about 11pm when a female student raised alarm over her “stolen phone” sighted with a male fellow.

“The guy was instantly mobbed by bystanders and fatally wounded,” said an eyewitness.

According to multiple sources, groups loyal to the attacked student mobilized in violent reprisals, wounding many.

The rioters equally attacked student properties, forcing many to flea their apartments, it was learnt.

No University property was affected in the incident but authorities say they are grieved by the clashes.

“We are investigating the incident and will bring those concerned to book,” said the University’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Istifanus Kurtong.

As of the time of publishing this report, normalcy had returned to the university.

Some of the injured students have equally been discharged from hospital.
