Drivers arrested transporting logistics to Boko Haram

From Bodunrin Kayode, Maiduguri

Six renegade drivers have been arrested by men of the 7 division of the Nigerian army as accomplices supplying the boko haram insurgents with vehicle laden logistics including food items to assist them in elongating the lingering war in the north east of Nigeria.

The men Modu Chellu, Abubakar Sadique. Bada Kuma, Fantami Modu, Umara mallam, and Bunu Mustapha were arrested by military intelligence officers within the sector 1 area of the north east war theatre of Nigeria for wrongfully helping Boko haram insurgents with logistics to make them fight on.

General Officer Commanding GOC 7 division Brigadier General Abdul kalifa who briefed newsmen in Maiduguri saturday evening before the items were burnt down publicly said that they actually arrested ten of such suspected vehicles but have been able to establish that only six of the drivers were actually taking the items to the bush markets of Boko haram for them to be strengthened in the ten year old war.

” Actually we were able to establish based on intelligence that some unscrupulous people have been supplying village markets with logistics. And in turn these are sent to the boko haram settlements in the villages where they hold sway to help them.

“Some of the items which included foodstuffs, assorted bread, packaged water and fuel were found with some of the previous suspects and now some of them have been rearrested which is a clear indication that they have not repented from their wrong doings.” Said General Kalifa

About six vehicles with all manner of logistics were lighted up by the GOC to burn the items and thereby serve as a lesson to those who may want to continue to help the insurgents to become stronger thereby bringing the hands of the clock backwards.

Several other seizures have been made in the last one year by the GOC and the Theatre Commander Major General Olusegun Adeniyi who vowed about a year ago after taking command of the theatre that any item found in any part of the theatre serving as a deliberate aid to the Boko Haram insurgents will be burnt down inside the said vehicle the seizure was made.

Meanwhile the four other drivers are still undergoing investigations by military intelligence to establish their culpability as has been asserted by the army against the six who will soon be prosecuted.
