Service PS becomes Head in new appointments by Plateau Government

The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong on Friday appointed Mr. Sunday Hyat, the State’s Permanent Secretary, General Administration in the office of the Head of Service, as the new Head of Service for the State. 

This followed the retirement of the former Head of Service, Mr. Izam Azi, as he attained the mandatory age of 60.

The new Head of Service to be sworn in along with 14 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries on Monday is a licensed Civil Engineer.

He was once Chairman, Nigeria Society of Engineers Jos branch. He also served as the Council Member representing North Central on the Board of Council for the Registration of Engineers in Nigeria, COREN. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers and is registered with the American Society of Civil Engineers. 

An alumnus of the National Institute for policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Engr. Hyat has been Permanent Secretary in Ministries of Works, Lands, Survey and Town Planning. 

Mr. Hyat was born on 3rd February 1963, in Ganawuri, Riyom Local Government Area. He attended Boys Secondary School Gindiri before proceeding to the Federal University of Technology Minna where he graduated with B. Eng. Civil Engineering. He has a Diploma Computer Application from the University of Jos.
