Nigerian Parliamentarian, Istifanus Gyang says Churches are lead community development agents in the country.
Aside from character development, Churches according to Gyang provide basic social amenities that aid life and ease government’s burdens infrastructural burdens.
In his words, “The church has been pivotal to nation building particularly in the education and health sectors.
“The church has built schools from primary to tertiary institutions. If you look at the health sector, the Church has built hospitals and is offering healthcare to people.”
Gyang at the ordination of new Pastors by the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Fan-loh village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area believes more Pastors means more development for communities.
The Senator representing Plateau North in the Nigerian National Assembly said, “Their work is not just going to remain on the pulpit but also in developmental efforts.
“They would mobilize communities to address issues that are of self-help in nature and are able to address basic issues like portable water, nursery and primary and secondary schools at that level so they are coming into critical assignments not just in the Church but at the national level.”
