Senator Gyang seeks equal representation in Federal appointments

Senator representing Plateau North at the National Assembly Senator Istifanus D. Gyang has Called for the implementation of the Federal Character principle in terms of employment in all the Federal establishment and institutions located in Plateau State.

The Senator stated this in Jos yesterday while on a familiarization tour of federal establishments in Plateau North Senatorial district and to identify areas that would require legislative intervention.

He express the desire to deploy his legislative capacity to enhance the attainment of the objectives and core mandate of all Federal establishments domiciled in Plateau North Senatorial District.

Senator Gyang said it was worrisome that Nigerian is Still backward in terms of technology and believe the 9th assembly will work to ensure that Nigeria improves considerably in Science and Technology so as to catch up with the advanced world.

He promised to, along with his colleague Senators, address the budgetary constraints of the establishments through the legislative appropriation process.
He equally promised to address any gabs in the Acts establishing the respective agencies and where applicable sponsor Bill to enact laws for those lacking same.

He assured heads of organizations visited that the people of Plateau North are resolved to strengthening the prevailing peace with a view to creating a conducive and enabling environment for their day to day activities and operations and all other businesses in the Senatorial District to thrive.

He charge the NTA as a leading broadcast station to uphold and promote the rule of law yhereby deepening democracy. He added that the Press and Media have the constitutional responsibility of holding government accountable with a view to enshrine good governance.

In his addresses at NAPTIN, he highlighted the critical role of 5he power sector to the long awaited economic turn around of the nation as power is at the center of all major economic activities, from industrial manufacturing to medium and small scale businesses. He therefore admonished the management to optimize their training to speed up the much desired economic breakthrough of the nation.

At the National Centre for Remote Sensing, Senator Gyang lamented that while some nation attained space technology long ago, Nigeria was still experimenting with the basics.
He therefore challenge the NCRS to shore up Nigeria’s profile by their research and operations.

In their separate remarks, the Zonal Director NTA Jos, Mr. Peter Ochigbo, Assistant Director NAPTIN Abubakar Omika and Director/Chief Executive of NCRS Dr. Efron Nduke Gajere (JP) all appreciated the Senator and commended him for being the first Senator to be in their Offices.

They promised to synergize with the Senator for the common good of the people of the Senatorial Zone, State and Nation at large.

They said the establishments are not without challenges and said they were willing and available to collaborate and partner with the Senator to address the challenges.

The Heads of the establishments also commended the Senator on his quest for peace and peaceful coexistence thus providing a conducive environment for their daily activities.

The Federal Establishment so far visited by the Senator include Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Zonal Office Jos, National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) Regional Training Centre, Jos and National Centre for Remote Sensing (NCRS) Jos Office.
