Run for Governor after Senate, Plateau Muslims tell Sen. Gyang

Muslims in Central Nigeria’s Plateau State, Monday said Sen. Istifanus Gyang has impacted their communities more than any Federal representative in the recent years.
The Muslims from Jos North and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas said during a Sallah homage to the Plateau North Senator in the National Assembly said the former House of Reps member has earned their support for any political position he seeks.
“Your name has been ringing in Jos North and we love you. Because we love you we trust you. And because we trust you, we will follow you anywhere,” Chairman of Jos Hausa/Fulani community who led the Jos North delegation told the Senator.
His Barkin Ladi counterpart, Alhaji Awalu Haruna applauded Sen. Gyang for donating books to Islamic schools and empowering disadvantaged groups in the locality.
A 70-year old elder in the delegation, Alh. Baba Gambo added that the Senator saved his life when he fell critically ill without finances for surgery.
“He gave me a motorbike for business after singlehandedly funding my surgery and now I’m hale and hearty,” he said.
The Senator for his selflessness and “matchless representation” since his time in the lower Chambers of the Nigerian Parliament deserves a chance to be Governor, said Mr. Gambo.
He said, “We are pleading that after two terms in the Senate, you should come and run for Governorship and we will support you.”
A women leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the locality, Mrs. Amina Adamu also said the Senator has economically empowered over 600 widows, including herself, proving his capacity to be Governor.
A youth leader in the locality, Mr. Musa Tanko as well as an active member of the APC, Alh. Garba Wallace equally called on the Senator to consider expanding his impact by running for Governor in 2027.
In his remarks during the visitation, Senator Gyang said the mandate given him is to ensure peace and security, reconciliation and economic empowerment for the electorates.
“We cannot achieve peace through violence. The path to peace is harmonious coexistence. We must therefore embrace peace and reconcile ourselves. The next important thing for us is economic empowerment, and the greatest empowerment is education,” said Sen. Gyang.
The Senate Committee Defense Vice Chairman asked the electorates to hold him accountable as he carries their mandate.
