A Nigerian Activist, Dr. Sani Adamu has said that the allegations by the APC that the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar was usurping the powers of President Muhammadu Buhari by addressing national issues were senseless.

The Presidency was jittery over evidences Atiku has presented against the APC at the Presidential Election Tribunal, Adamu said, Tuesday.

The Atiku Strategist challenged the APC spokesman, Mr. Lanre Lasisi to distinguish between free speech and “usurping of powers”.

“Dr. Atiku is a Nigerian, as such he is entitled to comment on national issues without fear or favour.

“If we can recall in 2014, the head of Buhari campaign organization, Rotimi Amaechi made statement in support of Army officers that were arrested and tried for mutiny, he was not arrested or intimidated. Atiku did not make such statement.

“In the same year, the APC shouted hoarse when South Africa seized a Nigerian plane which was loaded with cash meant for arms purchase.

“The APC at time through Lai Mohammed and George Akume accused the Federal of transferring Nigeria’s money out of the country illegally. None of the were arrested or quizzed,” Adamu said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Chairman and Founder of Deservation.org and PukkA Movement advised Buhari to concentrate on rebuilding the economy rather than attacking opposition voices.

“I will advise Buhari to revamp the economy which he destroyed when he assumed power in 2015.

“He should stop arresting young Nigerians on flimsy excuses,” he said.
