Central Nigeria’s Plateau State might soon start harvesting animal skin for wealth creation.
Federal Parliamentarian, Beni Lar, Friday launched the first-ever skin and hide entrepreneurial centre in Jos the State capital, to train youths in skin and hide processing.
The State has abundant livestock and wildlife but has not been exploring such for income, Ms. Lar said.
Some of these animals including snakes, cattle and sheep will henceforth not just be used for meat but also leather production, she said.
The centre is established as a branch of the Nigerian Leather Institute and Science Technology, Kaduna, said Lar who is the Nigerian House of Reps Committee Chairperson on Science and Technology.
