Plateau: Rep Maren vows justice for 13 killed in Mangu

The Member Representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in the Nigerian National Assembly, Hon. Solomon Bulus Maren, has vowed to pursue justice for the 12 youths murdered in Mangu Local Government of Plateau State on Thursday.

Gunmen believed to be herdsmen attacked Kulben village in Kombun District of the LGA at about 7:30am, killing 12, Police say.

Locals however place the figure at 13, with another four critically injured.

Police had foiled a similar attempt in neighboring Kon Village of Kerang on Wednesday.

The attack on the “innocent, harmless” villagers is “evil, barbaric and ungodly,” said the Rep Member in a press statement.

“We will do everything humanly possible to ensure that any person or group of people found culpable in this attack is decisively dealt with. They will not be allowed to go unpunished. They shall face the full wrath of the law,” Maren said.

The lawmaker assured of working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the peace and security of Mangu/Bokkos constituency.

Maren who recently donated 30 motorcycles to traditional rulers for use in rural patrol and intelligence gathering commended security agencies for swiftly responding to the threat and arresting suspects connected to it.

He however called for calm, pleading that no one takes the law into their hands but “allow Government to deal with the matter lawfully.”
