Plateau: Gunmen kill student as Govt. declares war on crime in Bokkos

JOS NIGERIA: Police have launched a hunt for the killers of a 200 Level student of the Plateau State University, Bokkos who was shot on Sunday.
Mr. Sheni Ugo Kimati, a Geology Department student met his end when “unknown hoodlums attacked” the university at about 11pm local time, Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State, Mr. Tyopev Terna said, Monday.
The incident led to a protest by students of the university, who blocked the access road to the Bokkos Local Government Headquarters.
Chairman of the Local Government, Yusuf Machen had Sunday declared war on rape, armed robbery and kidnapping in the locality.
He said at a feast of the ruling All Progressives Party in Butura Ward, Bokkos that eight suspected robbers had been arrested, signalling a success of the crackdown.
The fresh attack perhaps poses a fresh challenge, but the Chairman has not commented.
A Chief from the his home village, Kuba was last two weeks killed by suspected assassins few kilometers to the Plateau State University.
It was at tgw burial of the community leader that the Chairman made his first declaration against insecurity in the locality.
