Gunmen on Sunday ambushed 11 people in Senator Istifanus Gyang’s home District killing two, reports say.

The attack near Nding Loh village of Fan District in Barking Ladi Local Government Area occurred at about 7pm, local time, it was learnt.

Five people were wounded in the attack while four escaped unhurt, MK gathers.

The attack is the third in less than two weeks in the District.

This is regrettable, says Senator Istifanus Gyang who represents Plateau North in Nigeria’s Parliament.

Gyang, the Deputy Chairman, Senate Defense Committee has been a strong advocate of security, reconciliation and empowerment in his domain.

In a press statement issued through his Protocol and Media Aide, Musa Ashoms, the Senator said “I am shocked and sad that after several appeals for Peace and Unity in Plateau North Senatorial District, my constituents are witnessing attacks while several lives have been lost.”

He however insists on nonviolent solutions to the crisis.

“I remain focused and committed to the mandate given to me to secure the people, reconcile the people and empower the people of Plateau North,” he said.
