Plateau Chief, Sunday Akun bags two awards in one week

Central Nigeria’s Daffo Village Chief, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mr. Sunday Akun has been awarded the “philanthropist and community emancipator” of the year 2019.

The award by the National Association of Middle-Belt Students on December 8, 2019 is in recognition of his “peerless proficiency in service delivery,” his role in providing “unparalleled perceptivity in the Nigerian economy” and among others, his “transcendent performance in exceedingly alarming humanitarian services.”

“You are a blessing to your fatherland,” an official statement by the organizers says.

Similarly, the National Economics Students Association, NESA, University of Jos chapter has awarded the Galadiman Daffo and ex-Administrator, Monetary Policy Department, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abuja, Mr. Akun.

The award according to officials is in recognition of his “consistent passion and unrestrained enthusiasm towards liberating young minds from seemingly insurmountable limitations”.

“Chief is a man of integrity and one who understands the dynamics and fundamentals of a contemporary society, the yearnings of youths and the need for their inclusion in the running of our economy,” said Chairman of the award organizing committee, Mr. Mafulul Sylvanus on Friday.

The awards are amongst many local and international honours received by the renowned statesman.
