Plateau: B/Ladi LG to pay 20yrs-old contract arrears

Jos, Nigeria: Plateau’s newly appointed Management Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government, Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau has vowed to pay all contract arrears owed by the council over the past 20 years.

Mandyau had set up an assets and liability audit committee in September, 2019 when he assumed duty in the LGC.

The committee according to him was to ascertain the ‘genuineness’ of all financial claims and liabilities of the council, for proper policy decisions.

It also aims to improve relationships between the Council and its business partners, he said.

“This is not a financial probe but purely a research exercise meant to provide us a clear policy direction,” Mandyau said while receiving the audit committee report in Barkin Ladi town.

The committee headed by Mr. Philip Dembo includes two staff of the Local Government.

Its report is expected to be implemented after council reviews.
