The Nigerian Union of Journalists in Niger State on Thursday commended Senator Mohammed Sani Musa representing Niger East Senatorial District for being the most friendly politician to journalists in the state.
The Union in a Communique issued at the end of its Congress held at the IBB Pen House Minna, recognized the Senator’s contributions to its growth and journalists in the state.
It congratulated the lawmaker on his victory at the Apex Court where he finally defeated Senator David Umaru to emerge as Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District.
According to the Congress, the victory of Senator Sani Musa will enhance the development of Niger East Senatorial District.
“The Congress also congratulated the Senator representing Niger East senatorial District, Alhaji Sani Musa (313) for his emergence at the Apex Court and specifically noted his contributions to the NUJ and Journalists in the state. He was recognised as the best Media friendly politician whose victory will enhance the development of Niger east senatorial district,” the communique states in part.
Meanwhile, the union tasked Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to consider the appointment of more Journalists into his government and also to head media houses.
While commending the Governor for appointing Mrs Mary Noel Berje of the NTA Chapel and Chairperson NAWOJ as his Chief Press Secretary, it however urged him to do more in appointing more women and youths into his cabinet.
Also, NUJ in the state urged Governor Abubakar Bello to take proactive measures to always be at the top of security challenges in the state and advised security agencies to promptly check the activities of immigrants who have strategically positioned themselves at various junctions by putting them on a watch list.
