Northern Governors celebrate Gbajabiamila, Sanwolu, Kingibe amid tears over Ajimobi

The Northern Governors Forum on Thursday celebrated House of Reps Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwoolu; and elderstatesman Amb. Babagana Kingibe as they marked their birthdays.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong in a congratulatory message described Gbajabiamila who clocked 58 as a “great Nigerian” who has continued to promote development particularly through his legislative experience.

Lalong commended the Speaker for giving “direction and quality leadership” to lower legislative chamber leading to the passing of laws that have promoted good “governance, peace and tranquility.”

Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State who turned 55, the Northern Governors said is “courageous and pragmatic in leadership.”

The forum tasked him not to relent in serving Lagos State and the nation with integrity, compassion and excellence, in line with his campaign promises.

Elderstatesman, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, who turned 75 was commended for his “loyalty, patriotism and commitment” to Nigeria.

Governor Lalong in a statement through his Press Director, Simon Makut said “Ambassador Kingibe has transversed the political landscape of the country, and making his mark on the international stage, making congent contributions to the socio-political development of Nigeria in various capacities over the years. We celebrate his dexterity and passion in promoting National unity, peace and good governance”.

The Northern Governors Forum however expressed “deep shock” over the demise of former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.

Governor Lalong, the Forum’s Chairman in a condolence message described the late Ajimobi as a man of integrity who served the people of Oyo State and Nigeria with excellence.

Lalong said the “sterling leadership” qualities of late Ajimobi and his role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress endeared him to many party members which led to his appointment as Deputy National Chairman, South.

The Governor also extolled the contributions of Governor Ajimobi to the oil and gas industry in Nigeria during his career where he made “significant impact on its growth and development”.
