A Nigerian radiation oncologist, Dr. Oludare Adeyemi has successfully treated breast cancer without mastectomy.
The consultant physician of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) used radioactive seeds in a process “micro seed treatment.”
“The procedure is done when microseeds are placed in the tumour bed under ultrasound-guided,” Adeyemi told journalists in Benin City, the capital of Oyo State.
It takes but a day to complete, but is only successful in early cases, said the oncologist.
