Nigeria: 3yrs old drowns in “soak away” in Plateau

A 3years-old boy, Joseph Iliya was on Friday found dead in a soak pit popularly called “soak away” in Plateau State’s Heipang community, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
Master Iliya was thought to have gone out for a play with his fellow kids within the neighborhood, morning.
His body was however later found floating in the pit by some kids who raised alarm, it was gathered.
The pit, newly dug to collect sewage from a new house building was open and yet to be put to use.
It was therefore filled with water from a heavy rain on Thursday morning.
Officials have yet to comment on the incident.
Master Iliya whose father, Iliya Simon was found dead by the roadside in 2016 has however been buried according to Christian rites.
