Niger State Government says it sacked over 374 workers, and retired 380 from 2016 to date, for engaging in “fraudulent acts”.

In their place, 1,133 workers were recruited into the state workforce, Chief Press Secretary to Niger State Governor, Mrs. Marry Barje told our Correspondent on Thursday.

According to Barje, 6,835 existing workets were promoted while 5,258 retired voluntarily within the period.

“Some of the offences of those sacked or compulsorily retired included pension fraud, salaries inflation, employment racketeering as well as certificate and age forgery,” she said.

“The Governor Abubakar Sani Bello led administration is committed to ensuring a disciplined workforce that is well positioned for efficient and effective service delivery, and that is only possible if those found with fraudulent acts are taken out of the system,” said the official.
