Niger Speaker dishes business grants to truck pushers, others

Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse has issued business grants to 2,000 indigent members of his constituency, Tara.

Among the benefiting groups are widows, orphans, football clubs and truck pushers among others.

520 women including widows were given N10,000, 100 orphans got N500 each, and 95 artisans including truck pushers, plumbers, electricians, painters and furniture workers got N15,000 each.

Similarly, N20,000 and N30,000 were donated to 150 students in lower and higher educational institutions respectively.

In addition, 30 football clubs were given assorted kits.

The donations according to the lawmaker were meant to increase family income.

At the empowerment ceremony, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state, represented by the commissioner of Land and Housing, Muktar Nasalle said the move was in line with the All Progressive Congress party’s poverty eradication drive.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to benefit others.
