NECO contemplates CCTV cameras for exam monitoring

The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, National Examination Council (NECO), Prof. Godswill Obioma has said that the body’s examinations will commence on 24th August, 2020 and end Monday 7th September, 2020.

NECO – SSCE will commence on Monday 5th October, 2020 to Wednesday 18th November 2020, while NECO-NCEE for admission of JSS1 Students into Federal Unity Colleges is slated for Saturday 17th October, 2020, he said, Tuesday, in Minna, the Niger State capital.

NECO has scheduled the BECE (Re-sit) for 11th and 12th November, 2020 for the prescribed relevant subjects, said the official.

Before covid-19 interupted, a total of 169,144 candidates, Prof. Obiamo said registered for the Senior School Certificate Examination SSCE, while 104, 341 registered for BECE, but more are still being registered.

Registration for BECE will end three days to the start of the examination, i.e., Friday, 21st August, 2020 without any extension, while that of National Common Entrance Examination NCEE ends a week before the examination i.e., Friday, 10th October, 2020, Prof. Obiamo told Journalists.

In addition, registration for Senior School Certificate Examination SSCE will end on 10th September, 2020 without room for further extension.

He advised prospective candidates to avoid malpractices during the examination as the Council has “zero tolerance” for such.

The Council according to him is considering the use of special CCTV cameras in all examination centres and custodian points.
