Minna University withdraws 169, Awards Orphan Best Graduate

The Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, has withdrawn a total of 169 students over poor academic performance, social misconduct and among others, absence from class.
The sanctions were necessary to maintain “high academic standards, discipline and transparency,” Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abdulahi Bala said, Saturday.
Among those withdrawn were 120 undergraduate, and 48 postgraduate students.
Prof. Bala at the FUTA 29th convocation ceremony announced 26year-old orphan, Mr. Ogunfolaji Yusuf Oluwasegun as the institution’s best graduating student for 2019.
Mr. Oluwasegun, a Civil Engineering graduate made the feat through “discipline and hard work.”
“I can also remember how amazed and inspired I was in my 300 level, when a lecturer, the Dean of Postgraduate Schools, prof. Salawu Sadiku, solved a problem using 5 different methods. I felt if someone could be this exceptional, then I could also work hard and be that exceptional too.”
The Ogun State Abeukuta State indigene lost his both parents at at eight months old and was raised by his aged grand mother, it was learnt.
