A group of retired footballers has donated food items and other household essentials to over 20 poor widows in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

The self-labelled Belle (tommy) United Social Football Club, on Thursday distributed noodles, grains and among others, toiletries to widows within Hwolshe community where it is headquartered.

“It is a corporate social responsibility, to help ease the economic hardship caused by the coronavirus disease,” said the group’s Chairman, Mr. Haruna Mizim.

The group is one of few to have supplied humanitarian aid directly to vulnerable groups.

Most donations to the fight against Coronavirus and the socioeconomic challenges caused have been through the government and have yet to release.
