Central Nigeria’s Niger State has recorded its third case of COVID-19.

From Mathew Jwantu, Minna

The patient is a 30years-old driver from Kano, who was arrested in Minna for flouting the Niger State lockdown.

He was first tried by a mobile court and quarantined, before his sample sent to Abuja for test returned positive, State Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Muhammad Makusidi said.

The patient according to the Commissioner has no contacts in the State as he was only passing through when he was arrested.

The patient currently at the quarantine centre in Minnna will be moved to Minna General Hospital for treatment, said the Commissioner.

Meanwhile, three vehicles carrying 43 passengers, heading to Kuta in Shiroro Local Government have been intercepted and the occupants tried.

The mobile court has found them guilty of breaking the ban on entry into the State and therefore sent them back to where they came from, the Health Commissioner has said.
