Plateau: Kanam Legislative Leader, Deputy Impeached

Members of Plateau State’s Kanam Legislative Council have impeached the House Majority Leader, Hon. Yahaya Ayuba Shehu and his Deputy House Leader, Hon. Abubakar Muhammad Yakubu.
The House Majority Leader, Hon. Usman Gwaivanmin led 13 out of the 20 legislators to effect the impeachment on Tuesday.
Hon. Gwaivanmin told Journalists after the exercise that the duo were impeached for violating democratic principles in their conducts.
The Majority Leader therefore called on the Council Chairman, Security agencies and the general Public not to Carry out any transactions with the former House leaders.
He also warned the former House leader and his Deputy to Stop Parading themselves as the House leaders.
The new leaders that replaced them are Hon. Abdulbasid Haladu from Kyansar ward as House leader and Hon Bala Atiku from Dengi ward as Deputy Leader.
Speaking Shortly after his election, the new House leader pledged to work for the interest of the House and citizens of Kanam.
The new leader along with the House Chief Whip, Hon. Bilyaminu Yalsin and Hon Rabiu Mijiyawa the House Committee Chairman on Security called for Peace in the LGC.
They called on Security agencies to keep the Council Chambers and the entire LGA safe.
Thugs had invaded the Council Chambers in reaction to the impeachment, causing chaos and stealing the legislative Mace.
The situation was however brought under control by securities.
