Jos: Students produce toiletries for University

The University of Jos has engaged its students to produce toiletries for its use.

The partnership developed through the University’s Center for Entrepreneurship Studies is, according to officials, for the production of multipurpose liquid soap, hand wash, perfumes, air freshener and liquid antiseptic.

Skills and equipment for photography, videography and photo printing are also being provided for students to be self-employed, Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Sebastien Maimako, Monday told journalists in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

Uni-Jos students, Maimako said are trained in both theory and practicals to meet the needs of communities.

“Unijos products are therefore uniquely positioned to be outstanding and provide leadership in their chosen fields of endeavour,” said the VC.

Added to its millions of Nigerian graduates, the institution according to the Don has trained 88 foreign students from DR Congo, Liberia, Kenya, Uganda, Togo, Niger Republic and Benin Republic.

Its latest set of graduates are expected to be officially conferred with various degrees at a convocation ceremony holding Saturday, December 7, 2019.

Two ‘distinguished’ Nigerians – Prof. Peter Akinsola and Dr. Attia Nasreddin will be conferred with honorary Doctorate degrees at the “31st abs 32nd Convocation ceremony.

The event holding at the University’s Jeremiah Useni Mini Stadium, Naraguta Campus, will be preceded by a football match on Tuesday, and Exhibition of various inventions and works of art by the University on Wednesday.

On Thursday, there will be project commissioning and a convocation lecture, followed by a convocation play on Friday.

After the convocation ceremony on Saturday, a Dinner is expected to hold at Aliel Center, Jos by 7pm wherein graduands of the Institution will be inducted into its alumni association.
