Jos: Policeman mobbed for killing mason in “accidental discharge”

A Mobile Policeman was Friday mobbed by irate youths in Tudun Wada area of Jos, Plateau State following an “accidental discharge” that led to the killing of a local mason.

The Policeman reportedly offered the deceased a bottle of bear before his rifle went off, hitting “Mr. Cain” as he was fondly called at close range.

The incident which occurred at about 12am sparked riots leading to the yet to be identified officer being beaten to coma before he was rescued by local youth leaders.

“The mobile police officer admitted it was a mistake but the people around beat him up mercilessly before he was rescued,” Mr. Enoch Selnan, Secretary of the Tudun Wada Youth Forum told MK news.

As of the time of publishing this report, Police and Vigilante patrol teams had taken both the corpse of Mr. Cain and his alleged shooter to A Division Police Headquarters, Jos.

No official statement has been obtained on the incident.
