Gov. Lalong bids for additional Federal University, Polytechnic in Plateau State

The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong on Thursday appealed for the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic and a Mining University in the State.

The Federal Institute of Geosciences in Jos is to be upgraded to the canvassed Federal University of Mining.

Lalong in a chat with President Muhammadu Buhari during a courtesy call at the Presidential villa, Abuja also appealed for the construction of five Federal roads linking the state with others.

They are Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Road, Taraba-Shendam-Namu-Nasarawa Road, Panyam-Bokkos-Wamba road, Lantang-Wase-Bashar-Taraba Road, and Jos-Jengre-Kaduna roads.

The Governor further appealed for the appointment of more Plateau indigenes into Federal agencies.

He particularly sought the confirmation of some appointees on acting capacities in FHA, NARC, NEPZA, Federal Civil Service and Federal Character Commission.

The Governor had gone to appreciate the President for supporting him since his first term election in 2015.

In his entourage were his wife Regina, Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abok Nuhu Ayuba and among others, Traditional Rulers.
