Gombe First Lady dishes food to orphans, others

The Gombe State First Lady, Hajiya Asma’u Yahaya has flagged-off the disteibution of food to the less privileged in the State.

The program initiated by the office of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hajiya Aisha Muhammadu Buhari specifically targets orphans, widows, and among others, people living with disabilities.

Mrs. Yahaya at the flag-off ceremony on Saturday in Gombe said meeting the needs of the common man should be a priority to every responsible person.

As such, the State, she said will build partnership with the Federal Government and nongovernmental organizations to develop initiatives that will positively impact communities.

“The human spirited initiatives being pursued by Aisha Buhari through her pet project, ” future assured’ are in tune with Gombe state administration’s programmes targeting at the empowerment of youths, women and other vulnerable groups,” she said in a press Statement through her Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Uba Misilli.

Earlier in his remarks, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Office of the First Lady, Barrister Aliyu Abdullahi lauded the new Gombe State administration for positively transforming the State and its citizens.

The Gombe State First Lady later visited the Gombe orphanage, where she presented food items before proceeding to the ancient Tula Correctional facility in Kaltungo local government area for a similar gesture.

In her address, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Naomi Joel Awak acknowledged Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable groups.
