Four female students of the Plateau State University, Bokkos, were Monday kidnapped by gunmen, Officials say.
A male student was shot, when the kidnappers invaded student settlements outside the University, at about 10pm local time, a top management staff said.
“I am not authorized to speak yet, so this is unofficial,” said the University staff. “Four female students were kidnapped and another shot but confirm that from the Chief Security Officer or Vice Chancellor,” the Official added.
When contacted, Chief Security Officer of the University, Mr. Samuel Kurtong said all four abducted students were rescued before daybreak.
“We acted swiftly and with the help of government securities, all four were rescued unhurt. We are currently examining them in the hospital,” he said.
It was however gathered that students of the University were planning a protest over the incident. It was the third invasion of the school in two years, and the second in the State in 72hrs.
Eight miners were last Friday killed in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area, 70kms from the University. Several other attacks have occured near the University, but not affecting students.
