Former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang on Sunday appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to grant presidential pardon to convicted Senator Joshua Dariye.

Jang took over from Dariye as Governor in 2007, but the two remained political rivals till Dariye’s conviction.

However, speaking at the finals of the Plateau North peace and unity football Tournament at the Rwang Pam township stadium in Jos, Jang said “it is time for us as Plateau people to speak with one voice.”

“I want to plead with Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari to grant our son, Senator Joshua Dariye pardon so that he can come back and join us,” Jang said.

The former Governor was speaking on the need for all politicians in the State to emulate Senator Istifanus Gyang of Plateau North, organizer of the maiden peace and unity football tournament in the State.

“We need more of such initiatives so we can identify and encourage local talents that will represent Plateau and Nigeria in local and international competitions,” said Jang.

He equally appealed for Presidential pardon for former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame.

Jang said, “These two are dear to us in Plateau and Nigeria and it is our earnest prayer that the President considers our request, as we continue to pray for him too, to succeed in his tenure.”
