Female student tops IBBU graduating class a second time in three years

A total of 3,212 students have graduated from the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai, Niger State in the past two years.

Among them, female students have maintained a lead in academic performance, Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Muhammed Nasiru Maiturare said, Saturday.

The overall best graduating student for 2018/2019 session according to him, is Maryam Gomina in Physics Department with CGPA of 4.77.

Miss Gomina adds to the record of Miss Sa’adat Usman of Biochemistry who led her graduating class with a CGPA of 4.86 in 2017, the VC said at the third convocation ceremony of the institution.

She will be offered ‘automatic’ employment and scholarship through her Doctorate, Prof. Maiturare stated.

Of the 2019 graduating class, 23 students graduated with first class degree, 700 with second class upper degree, 1,990 with second class lower and 470 students with third class.

90 students graduated with various post-graduate degrees while honorary doctorate degrees were conferred on Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and Justice Maria Sanda Zakogi.

Post-humus Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science Science ( Honoris Causa) was also conferred on the founder of the institution, late Engr. Abdulkadir Kure.
