Elected PDP officials assume interim duty as coronavirus hinders inauguration

Ward Officials of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, elected March 7, 2020, will Thursday assume interim duty until the Coronavirus pandemic is over.

Their formal inauguration scheduled for Thursday, the day the tenure of the old Officials expires was suspended in compliance to Government’s guidelines on public gatherings, Mr. Emma Tuang, State Secretary of the Party said in a press statement.

“Tenure of the Ward  Executive Committees elected in April 2016 and sworn in on the 30th of April 2016 expires today and are hereby dissolved.

“The outcome of the Ward Congresses held on the 7th of March 2020 has received the approval of NWC/NEC.

“The  Swearing in of the Newly elected Ward Executive Committees be put on hold in compliance to Plateau state Govt order currently in place in relation to COVID19 Pandemic. 

“However, they can assume their various offices in the interim pending when it is lawfully convenient for them to be formally sworn in,” says the statement.
