Authorities in Central Nigeria’s Plateau State have shut all mining activities to guard against Coronavirus disease.
The Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Council, Ezekiel Mandyau, on Friday directed that all miners should vacate site and maintain social distancing.
Mandyau in a press statement equally banned all trading activities, with the exception of food sales.
“Consequently all shop owners in the streets, towns and villages within the area are to comply with the order and lock their businesses.
“In the same vain, all citizens should cooperate with security operatives to ensure compliance please,” the statement says.
The directive is in “solidarity” to a similar ban earlier announced by the State Governor, Simon Lalong.
