Nigerian Senator, Istifanus Gyang says to ease the “great stress and hunger” faced by Nigerians due to ongoing nationwide lockdown against Coronavirus, government should “quickly provide relief” to citizens.
The palliatives should, according to Gyang, reach all parts of the country “based on the principles of equity, inclusion and representation.”
Gyang, the Deputy Chairman of the Nigerian Senate Committee on Defence said on Sunday that this year’s Easter celebration is coming at a time the entire nation is coming under Covid-19 Pandemic Lockdown.
“Along with it are the obvious challenges of the health and livelihood of the people and also the economic decline, generating palpable fear and despondency,” he said.
Despite the “gloomy picture” however, Gyang is optimistic that Nigeria will conquer the virus.
“Just as it was impossible for the grave to hold Jesus captive, making his resurrection an unstoppable reality, even so shall the COVID-19 Pandemic be overcome and there shall be a turn around for good,” Gyang prayed in a press statement issued by his media aide, Musa Ashoms.
He however asked citizens to observe basic hygiene and government guidelines to stop the spread of the Coronavirus disease.
