The persisting coronavirus disease has forced the suspension of a planned palace anniversary celebration in Plateau State.
The 60th anniversary celebration of the Dagwom Rwey (Community Chief) stool of Jos South Local Government Area was to hold this weekend.
A press statement from head of media of the event planning committee, Mr. Ayuba Pam however says the event could not hold due to new government restrictions on public gatherings.
“The decision to shift the event to a later date followed the need to comply with the State Government’s ban on public gatherings to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease,” the statement quotes Chairman of the event’s Central Planning Committee, Mr. Gideon Dandereng as saying.
Dandereng in the statement calls citizens in the locality to support government’s efforts at curbing the virus by observing personal hygiene and social distancing.
