Inmates on isolation receive humanitarian donation

About 49 inmates on isolation in Central Nigeria’s Plateau State, Sunday received humanitarian donations from the wife of Barkin Ladi Local Government Council Chairman, Mrs. Ruth Mandyau.

Toiletries, under wears, foot wears and drinks were provided to make the inmates in a Barkin Ladi isolation center comfortable, said Ruth.

All the inmates were travelers who came into the State during entry restrictions.

“They were not taken to the isolation center from their homes to have taken anything with them.

“As a woman and mother, I understand what women and children in this situation would be passing through,” said Ruth.

The Chairman’s wife advised Plateau indigenes outside to suspend home-coming plans until the pandemic subsides to avoid spreading the virus further.

“Plateau State has no confirmed case yet, and it will be to the benefit of us all to keep it that way,” she said.

The inmates, including 17 children, and nine women have yet to fully adapt to the isolation environment, but are gradually adjusting, said a facility Official, David Dama.

They will be in quarantine for at least seven more days having been detained a week ago.

After the quarantine period, those of them who show symptoms will be tested while those who do not will be freed based on official protocol.
