5-year old boy tests positive for Covid-19 in Niger

Niger State on Wednesday recorded 13 new cases of Covid-19, the highest ever in a single day.
13 cases in all were confirmed by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, including a 5year-old boy.
The new figure also includes three other teenagers age 8, 12 and 15 years.
The Niger State Taskforce on Covid-19 reports that one of the newly confirmed cases, a 56years old man died before his test result came out.
“The 76th confirmed case is a 56years old male in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State. He died after exhibiting all the symptoms of COVID-19 which became severe and his sample taken,” says a statement by the Task Force Chairman, Ibrahim Matane.
The Taskforce official assured that the State was doing everything to curtail the spread of the disease.
He advised citizens to always wear facemasks, keep social distance and regularly wash their hands to reduce the risk of infection.
