274 ex Councillors to sue Niger over unpaid allowances

Immediate past Councillors in Niger State have threatened to sue the State Government over their unpaid severance allowances.

The 274 lawmakers of the 25 Local Governments in the State were dissolved nine months ago after serving their two-year tenure.

However, their approved allowances were withheld by the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chairman, Committee on Allowance Recovery 2016-2019 Local Government Councils, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar told Journalists on Monday.

The ex lawmakers according to Abubakar have resolved to petition the nation’s graft agencies, in addition to legal dispute if nothing was done soon on the issue.
