The Niger State Governor, Mr. Sani Bello has invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe him over a controversial $181,000,000.00 loan purportedly acquired from the Islamic Development Bank.
Bello was recently accused by his predecessor, Mr. Mu’azu Babangida of misusing the fund.
The former Governor told journalists that the dualization of the Minna-Bida road which the money was meant for has yet to be done.
However, the funds which Mu’azu claimed he handed over to the present government were unavailable on assumption of office, Bello said at the official flag-off of the 2019 Local Government election campaign in Minna.
“I am inviting the EFCC to come and probe this government and the other government to see who is lying among us. I still say that we did not meet anything in the account.
“EFCC should come and find out if the money has been released from that time till now. As far as I am concerned, the money has not been released but if they say it has been released, then where I’d the money?”
